The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy

The book that I choose for my book review was the novel "The Road" by Cormac Mc Carthy. The book takes place in a post apolitical version of earth where everyone has either perished or is on there last legs trying to survive. The book follows the life of a boy and his father, and the struggles they go through as they make there way across the United States on foot in their quest in trying to make it to the Western coast, where they plan on living the remaining years of their life. During there journey they go through struggles such as trying to hide from the blood thirsty desperate people that are left in the word, and they also live day to day trying to find food and water knowing that if they don't there time left in the world will soon come to an end. Through out the book a theme that keeps coming up is love. It is the love between the father and son that keeps them from not giving up and it is what keeps them from disappearing into complete insanity.

The element of the book that I found most interesting was how I had never read a book that was based in an authors theory of how the world would come to an end. It made it very interesting to read and it made the book very hard to put down because of its uniqueness to me. My favorite character through out the book was the father because I couldn't imagine having to do the things he did to keep he and his son safe and the author really him a entertaining character to follow through out the book.

After finishing the novel I believe that it was a very good book to read I found it very entertaining and being a person that has never really enjoyed reading I couldn't put the book down. It is unlike any other book that you have read before and i can guarantee that even if you don't like this type of style of book, you will enjoy this read. It was a real page turner and will really give you an appreciation for this authors style of writing. So after reading the book i would give this a definite thumbs UP!!!

Culture Shock!!

It wasn't hard making the decisions with a partner because i choose to work by myself. I found it interesting to read through each slide and what they had to say about the image. Although in the end they were not able to change my opinion. I thought it was an acceptable image to have on there homepage.

1) Yes i believe video games are a form of art. Most of them take far more time to create and make eye catching to the player than a painting does. However i don't believe you will ever see a video game in a museum.
2) No i did not find any of the images offensive or object able. And it was not difficult to decide wether or not the image belonged on the home screen.
3) No the quotes on the site were not strong or influential enough to change my opinion.
4)I believe that video games can create some types of violence but i believe that in the end of the day the type of person who is going to do something violent would do it anyway with out playing video games.
